How to Paint Yellow

Hi Guys,

As a quick Tutorial, here is my way to paint Yellow on Armour plates for my Orks.
The colors I use are as follow, mentioning new and old Games Workshop names:

1 / Tausept Ochre / Old version of Balor Brown (Which is not as good as the old version by the way)

2/ Iyvanden Dark Sun / Averland SunSet (Also not as good, missing on picture)

3/ Bestial Brown.

4/ Mix Iyanden DarkSun and Golden Yellow ( New Equivalent Yriel Yellow, haven't tried it)

5/ Mix of 4, with White.1 : 1

6/ Mix of 5, with White,1 : 1

I based coat in Brown and White on the top.
I then apply the first layer (1)
 The first highlight (2)

I then apply very watered down Brown in the recesses. (3)
I continue with the highlights, this time on the edges with a normal brush (4)
I apply another layer with thinner lines (5)
In the last step only the corners and high points, like the bolts receive the final highlight (6)

Here is the result once finished.

Kan's Boyz

Hi All,

No games for me this weekend, so I had time to finish the Ard'Boyz.
Mostly used Warhammer Black Orks and mixed them with regular Warhammer 40 000 bitz.
There are more Yellow than usual on my squads, but the result is quite nice.

Here are the pics:

I added an old Goff, and plan to include more vintage to the army soon.

The Nob looks quite small compared to the regular boyz. Black Orcs are bigger than usual Boyz.

High in Da Sky - Stormboyz are all finished.

Hi There,

Let me post some pictures of the 15 Stormboyz Mob.
They are a complete waste on the battle field, Deep Striking or not.
The models looks great, and I actually decided to work on them following the Dakka Jet and its Parachute Boyz.

The pictures, by group of 4

The second fella found some wings from a crypt Horror

In the middle with its backpack propulsion replaced with the ultimate Rokkit.

I tried to position the Nob based on some inspiration from Dark Eldar model:
I did not realize beforehand that Orks don't have longs legs and appropriate joints...

Anyway the result makes a nice Nob for the Krew.

(Just realised i said 15, i probably lost one in the process!)

StormBoyZ - Making Of

Here are some tips on painting and assembling the flying Orks.

1/ Assembling

I had an old metal version of the Stormboyz.
So what I did was mixing them with the new plastic models, plus a fair amount of bitz from different sets.

2/Basecoat

I basecoated them in black, then sprayed with a dark brown.
(Scorched Brown, the old version for Rhinox Hide.) I really recommend this.
It saves me so much time for next steps and it's very forgiving for details I could forget later on.

3/ Rust.
I used the same technique on all the parts of the characters with some metal component.
I picked the colors from there:
Vermin Brown, then Blazing Orange then final dry brush with metallic colors

With base layers colors.

Before doing the base.

With their positions, most of the models can easily fall down.
I tried to lower the center point of gravity (?? Probably not the good English term ??)
and put some bolts in the base to add some Weight.
It was a bad idea as I melted half of them when trying to level with sanding tool...

Dakka, Dakka..

Inaugural Post then, here is the first presentation.

Needless to say, I'll use these pages to present my Orks with a few details...

I'll start with some pictures of the Dakka / Burna Bommer.

During assembly, I was thinking about a transport plane. So I used some Stormboyz that I can parachute themselves right out before the Burna Boomer dropped his promethium bomb.

The jet body was lengthened adding a door and some additional "metal" plates.

After black basecoat, I dry brushed the rust colors.

Thanks to Phil's liquid mask and Tamiya tape, I protected rusted area and sprayed the main yellow color.
Once dry the mask works great even in recess areas.

I spent a bit time on the base.
Used the pigments for it and will probably do the same for the remaining of the army.

We tried the DakkaJet last weekend and for Ork standard it's pretty shooty!
Tim's tanks can't confirm this anymore though..

Hope you like it
